Bladesmithing, Blacksmithing & Design

Welcome to LHL Blades my name is Logan Hemingway Lichtenhan.

Though I am relatively new to Bladesmithing and Blacksmithing I have jumped in with both feet and have had some amazing teachers along the way. I also come from a background of designing and making things. I am a Do It Yourself kind of person. Whether it be making furniture or constructing a bicycle from the ground up or fixing things that break, the skills I have acquired along the way have benefitted me greatly in my pursuit of making unique and useful blades and other household and culinary tools.

I was one of those kids that started carrying a knife as a young child and have almost always carried a knife of some sort everyday I could from then on. Due to Covid-19 and being laid off from the two jobs I had been working for more than a decade previous to the pandemic I decided to take an introduction to Bladesmithing course in the summer of 2021 because I had always wanted to make my own knife and I thought why not now. The metal arts school Desert Metal Craft in my home town of Tucson Arizona provided the opportunity and so I took that class and got hooked. I have subsequently taken a number of amazing classes through DMC and had an amazing group of instructors as a result, I would not be producing the work I do now with out them. Amazing makers and teachers like Rich Greenwood, Mario Hernandez, Johnathan Wick, Nick Rossi, Don Nguyen, Sam Murlless and Anna Koplik.

My goal is to make blades and other useful tools that are also aesthetically pleasing. I want to make items that will be used and enjoyed for many years and possibly many lifetimes. I am an artisan making one of a kind items out of metal and wood and other industrial materials that will likley out last me.
